How to Track Your CD Baby Digital Downloads for Licensing

If you've licensed a cover song with us, you know it can be intimidating to have to keep track of all digital downloads you're selling. Since we're the preferred licensing partner of CD Baby, we get questions about this a lot. We've made a simple spreadsheet that will allow you to paste the data from your CD Baby sales reports and quickly identify the information you need to know in regards to renewing your licenses.

This sheet will work in Microsoft Excel, but performs best in Google Sheets. We recommend opening the link below and copying to your personal Google Drive to edit.

Instructions:

1. Visit https://members.cdbaby.com/Accounting/TransactionReports.aspx to download your monthly sales report from CD Baby. (From your dashboard, that's "Sales & Reports">"Sales & Accounting">"Monthly Sales Reports")
2. Select the desired month and download the .txt file for your Digital Distribution Sales and open the file.
3. Select all text and copy your data. Then on this sheet, click cell A15 and paste the data.
4. Use the dropdowns at the top to select your specific song and show your total digital downloads. (You must include Track, Artist, and Album name.)
