As a result of changes from the Music Modernization Act (MMA) of 2018, as of 2021 most large digital service providers (DSPs such as Apple Music and Spotify) will handle mechanical licensing of interactive audio streams for you. If you distribute to smaller DSPs, or through your own website, you'll need to get a license directly from the copyright owner.
Due to changes of the law, we no longer offer compulsory mechanical licensing (cover song licensing) for streams. However, you can still obtain a streaming license through our Custom Licensing service.
When you sign up for Custom Licensing, you will get access to an experienced professional who will be able to ensure you secure the correct license for your project that is up-to-date with new laws and regulations.
