Every track needs three credits: one for Performance, one for Writing and one for Production. Any role in a group counts. Stores use credits to show listeners who made the music, and we can't deliver your release until every track has all three.
| Group | Who goes here |
|---|---|
| Performance | Anyone you hear on the recording. Pick what they played or sang. Choose All Instruments if one person played every instrument, or Band for a group credited under the band name. |
| Writing | Whoever wrote the song. Songwriter wrote the music and the words (or you aren't sure who wrote which), Composer wrote the music only, and Lyrics wrote the words only. |
| Production | Whoever recorded, produced, mixed or mastered the track. Producer guided the recording and how it sounds. Engineer recorded, mixed or mastered it. |
How do I add a credit?
Choose the type and role, enter who it is, and say how much AI was used for that contribution: No AI, Some AI or All AI. Select the tracks it applies to, then choose Apply. To add the same credit to several tracks, select them all before you apply it.
I made it all myself. What do I do?
Choose credit yourself for everything. It fills in the most common roles and uses the name on your account by default. It lets you change the roles or name if necessary. It doesn't change any credits you already added. Use it only when the answers are true for every track. If AI was used on only some tracks, add those credits one at a time.
How do credits work for cover songs?
We add the writing credits for you. Our team confirms who wrote the original song and adds them to the track. If you added writing credits before marking the track as a cover, they are removed. You add the Performance and Production credits. See Can I Release a Cover Song?
What's the difference between a featured artist and a credit?
A featured artist is named with the track title in stores. Type their names in Featured artist to display with title, separated by commas and without "feat." Stores show up to four. Credits list everyone who contributed, including featured artists.
Can I change credits after my release is approved?
Yes. Make the change on your release, then choose Submit changes. See What Can I Change After I Submit My Release?
